My copy of Isles of the Emberdark came early, so I thought I would do a spoiler-free review of the book to judge how it sits amongst the pantheon of secret project books.

Like many who were fortunate enough to get Isles of Emberdark as part of the Words of Radiance bundle, I was thrilled to finally get my hands on my copy today.

Those familiar with tabletop role playing games like dungeons and dragons or pathfinder will find familiar ground within the Cosmere RPG, but the plotweaver system has a unique feature that makes it stand out from other systems: the Plot Die.

To be released alongside the world books and players guide, the Cosmere RPG will see its first full campaign release in September of this year.

If you read my article about the many names of Hoid from a week back, you saw that I had been working on the mystery of Nohadon in Wind and Truth. During one of his visions within the spiritual realm, Dalinar ends up encountering a very lucid version of Nohadon.

The Veden civil war started after the assassination of King Hanavanar in 1173. While the war only lasted one year, the toll would be devastating; cities burned and whole princedoms eliminated while Veden fought Veden in brutal combat stoked by the Thrill. 

Based on my research through all of the published books, dozens of WoBs in the Arcanum, several Coppermind pages, and a scattering of other sources, I’ve assembled the locations and context for each of Hoid’s aliases.

Now that Wind and Truth is out and behind us, those well Invested in the Cosmere may find themselves ready to dive into the backlog of books they’ve been holding off on while waiting for the conclusion of the first era of the Stormlight Archive. 

Now that I've opened an entire box of Story Deck, I can share my pull rates and share the data for those interested in starting their collection.

Now that it is officially released for public sale, those well invested in the Cosmere may be wondering: should I buy Story deck? 

We have at last come to the journey’s end on ranking the interludes in the Stormlight Archive, at least for this era.

Two of Sanderson’s 2023 secret project books, Tress of the Emerald Sea and Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, share an interesting trait: the narrator occasionally breaks the fourth wall and speaks to an unnamed audience.

While we’ll have to wait until 2031 to get the next mainline book, the next in story from the Stormlight Archive that we’ll get is 2026’s Horneater.
