Day 0 Recap - Dragonsteel Nexus 2025

Day 0 Recap - Dragonsteel Nexus 2025

I shook Brandon Sanderson’s hand today. My journey in the Cosmere started 6 years ago when my daughter turned 1. I had just finished the Wheel of Time and figured I'd give this The Way of Kings thing a shot for my next read. Fast forward to today and I'm meeting the man himself as he tours the exhibit hall.

He really is as nice and genuine as he seems. As he toured the exhibit hall he took the time to chat and share a story with just about everyone he ran into. I was walking through about an hour later and he was still at it.

I've had the pleasure of meeting a ton of cool people today, a few in particular…

When I picture what I want my YouTube videos to grow up to be, I think of Jasonioan. I ran in to him in the exhibit hall during set up - he's a great guy who works hard to make great Cosmere content.

I also ran in to Ria Parisi who shares the same booth location with me! We got a selfie with Brandon together and shared stories about our journey working through the Cosmere.

I got reconnected with Kyle from Shard of Opportunity / Complicated Opportunities - we actually met last Nexus at breakfast and ended up reconnecting over the Cosmere RPG. Small circles.

There were many more of you who I got to meet, and I'm sure there will be lots more! Thanks to everyone who came up and said hey.

I'm getting hyped for the Nexus game this year. This year's game feels very similar to the one last year, with a bit more lore baked in. I am honestly too tired right to give a thoughtful recap of it right now - I'm working off of 4 hours of sleep and two time zones behind.

Salt Lake is as pretty as ever, especially around this time of year. I don't think I'll get to spend much time walking around as I did last year. The city feels more alive this year - it could be because there are 4,000 additional attendees to Nexus this year (10k total).

Stay tuned for more Nexus updates!
