Updates from the Cosmere Gaming with Brotherwise Games Panel at Nexus 2025

During Dragonsteel Nexus 2025, the team over at Brotherwise Games broke down the latest updates on the Cosmere RPG, Mistborn Deckbuilding Game, and other new Cosmere projects coming in 2026 and beyond.

On the panel was:

Johnny O'Neal - President and Creative Director
Lydia Suen - Lead Designer
Meric Moir - Lead Writer
Haden Dillard - Board Game Development Lead
Lyla Fujiwara - Adventure Lead & Project Lead

Let’s break down each announcement and see what they have in store for us. As an alternative to this article, you can check my Reddit thread where I did live updates from the panel.

Let’s get in to the updates

Campaign Super Nova

We got brief details on "Campaign Super Nova" a week long Mistborn campaign event taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah next year.

Update! Here are the details for the event: https://tabletop.events/conventions/campaign-supernova-2026

Other than the announcement during the panel, I couldn't find any more details about when they will be, or how to get involved, but I'm sure we'll get details soon.

While I live a bit too far away from Salt Lake to attend, a week long RPG sounds like a dream come true, and I'm envious of anyone who gets to attend.

Cosmere Games in 2026

Cosmere Games to be release in 2026

So we got more directional dates for new Cosmere games in 2026

Shards of Creation - May 2026
Mistborn RPG - September 2026
Mistborn Deckbuilding Game, Well of Ascension - November 2026

This puts the Mistborn RPG coming just one year after the official release of the Stormlight setting the Cosmere RPG. Speaking with the Brotherwise team at Nexus, this is not the pace that we should expect to see full setting releases going forward. From my interview with Johnny O'Neal, the next setting in the Cosmere RPG will be determined by Brandon based on his writing schedule.

On the other hand, we did get some additional light dates - We were told that there would be an upcoming solo-mode for the Cosmere RPG and a new Stormlight adventure.

Elantris, Worldhopper, and Warbreaker are still the main settings that are in front of the team at the moment, though the order of those is up in the air. Elantris and Worldhopper are in "brainstorming" which means the team is activity in earlystage development of those systems. Sorry Warbreaker fans, but it seems that setting might be further down the list than some of us want.

They did mention that they're working on the way that hand-casting spells will work in Elantris, and that the team is having a lot of fun with it.

Johnny also hinted at a "big announcement" next year, but was quiet of the details. He also mentioned that there will be more smaller games, like Shards of Creation, coming soon.

Cosmere RPG Solo Mode

So there was some small discussion about a solo mode for the Cosmere RPG. This will involve tweaks the rules and paths to suite playing through adventures as a solo player - no game master, no fellow players.

If you're familiar with how the solo mode from the Mistborn Deckbuilding Game works, I would expect something similar: a scenario where you deal with random events from a table or themed deck, where you'll need to plan and react using on your single character.

I'm really interested to see how this works - I don't think you'll be playing through an adventure on the scale of Stonewalkers on your own, but time will tell.

Some of the changes referenced were related to talents or rules that depend on or otherwise target other players - obviously those need some tweaking to be relevant in a game where you're the only player.

There will also be a new type of endeavor focused on solo play.

We didn't get firm dates or adventure information, so more to come soon!

Shards of Creation

Releasing in May of 2026, Shards of Creation is a 'trick-taking' card game featuring the Shards of Adonalsium. If you're unfamiliar with Trick-taking games, check out this video overview of Hearts, a similar style of game. Note the rules are exactly the same, but it's a similar style of game.
