I wanted to capture the parts of Shadesmar that make it an interesting setting for battlemap: the iridescent obsidian, alien fauna, and bead ocean are all on full display in this maps.
I love the idea of using the bead ocean in interesting ways in combat: sneaking around an enemy position, as a hiding place to avoid a patrol, or maybe even an easy way trap an enemy in a corner.
