Updates from the Cosmere Gaming with Brotherwise Games Panel at Nexus 2025
During Dragonsteel Nexus 2025, the team over at Brotherwise Games broke down the latest updates on the Cosmere RPG, Mistborn Deckbuilding Game, and other new Cosmere projects coming in 2026 and beyond.
On the panel was:
Johnny O'Neal - President and Creative Director
Lydia Suen - Lead Designer
Meric Moir - Lead Writer
Haden Dillard - Board Game Development Lead
Lyla Fujiwara - Adventure Lead & Project Lead
Let’s break down each announcement and see what they have in store for us. As an alternative to this article, you can check my Reddit thread where I did live updates from the panel.
Let’s get in to the updates:
Campaign Super Nova
We got brief details on "Campaign Super Nova" a week long Mistborn campaign event taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah next year.
Update! Here are the details for the event: https://tabletop.events/conventions/campaign-supernova-2026
Other than the announcement during the panel, I couldn't find any more details about when they will be, or how to get involved, but I'm sure we'll get details soon.
While I live a bit too far away from Salt Lake to attend, a week long RPG sounds like a dream come true, and I'm envious of anyone who gets to attend.
Cosmere Games in 2026

So we got more directional dates for new Cosmere games in 2026:
Shards of Creation - May 2026
Mistborn RPG - September 2026
Mistborn Deckbuilding Game, Well of Ascension - November 2026
This puts the Mistborn RPG coming just one year after the official release of the Stormlight setting the Cosmere RPG. Speaking with the Brotherwise team at Nexus, this is not the pace that we should expect to see full setting releases going forward. From my interview with Johnny O'Neal, the next setting in the Cosmere RPG will be determined by Brandon based on his writing schedule.
On the other hand, we did get some additional light dates - We were told that there would be an upcoming solo-mode for the Cosmere RPG and a new Stormlight adventure.
Elantris, Worldhopper, and Warbreaker are still the main settings that are in front of the team at the moment, though the order of those is up in the air. Elantris and Worldhopper are in "brainstorming" which means the team is activity in earlystage development of those systems. Sorry Warbreaker fans, but it seems that setting might be further down the list than some of us want.
They did mention that they're working on the way that hand-casting spells will work in Elantris, and that the team is having a lot of fun with it.
Johnny also hinted at a "big announcement" next year, but was quiet of the details. He also mentioned that there will be more smaller games, like Shards of Creation, coming soon.
Cosmere RPG Solo Mode
So there was some small discussion about a solo mode for the Cosmere RPG. This will involve tweaks the rules and paths to suite playing through adventures as a solo player - no game master, no fellow players.
If you're familiar with how the solo mode from the Mistborn Deckbuilding Game works, I would expect something similar: a scenario where you deal with random events from a table or themed deck, where you'll need to plan and react using on your single character.
I'm really interested to see how this works - I don't think you'll be playing through an adventure on the scale of Stonewalkers on your own, but time will tell.
Some of the changes referenced were related to talents or rules that depend on or otherwise target other players - obviously those need some tweaking to be relevant in a game where you're the only player.
There will also be a new type of endeavor focused on solo play.
We didn't get firm dates or adventure information, so more to come soon!
Shards of Creation
Releasing in May of 2026, Shards of Creation is a 'trick-taking' card game featuring the Shards of Adonalsium. If you're unfamiliar with Trick-taking games, check out this video overview of Hearts, a similar style of game. Note the rules are exactly the same, but it's a similar style of game.

Shards of Creation by Brotherwise Games
New within this game are the first ever depictions of Devotion and Dominion, with several other Shards with stylized art.
Each Shard will have a thematically appropriate playstyle and different card abilities.
Shards of Creation will retail for $24.99 and be available in May 2026.
Mistborn RPG
We got lots of new information on the Mistborn setting of the Cosmere RPG. Checkout the slides below - we got a ton of new art and a good look at some of adjusted Heroic Paths and Metallic Arts.
We have quite a bit to unpack here, so I'll break it down in to sections below.

Mistborn RPG Campaign Updates
I finally got an answer to a question I've had since the Nexus 2024 panel: what exactly did does a "a campaign across two eras" entail? I asked Johnny after our interview (definitely should have asked while recording), and got further clarification during the panel.
The Mistborn campaign will play out in both Era 1 and Era 2 of Mistborn. Game Masters and players will run two separate parties separated by time. To be clear, the characters you play in Era 1 will not be the characters you play in Era 2, though they can be connected by lore should you choose.
The campaign book itself will be about 50% larger than the Stonewalkers campaign book.
The Era 1 campaign will take characters from level 1 to about level 6, and Era 2 will start at level 3.
We got updates on some of the adventure we'll be playing through: we'll be learning about something called the "Eternity Spike" and meeting a group called the "Gilded Few". The main antagonists feature some familiar names, like Tekiel and Elariel, along with some faces like Bayron Conrad.
Lysarra Tekiel was described as a bad-ass girl-boss, Kwliam Elariel is a rich debutant that runs a sketchy newspaper, and Bayron Conrad is a tech-bro.
Finally, as it naturally fits the setting, the campaign will skew more horrow - we're dealing with Hemalurgy after all.
On take away from my discussions with Andrew and Johnny - the Mistborn campaign isn't meant to be played in tandem with the Stormlight setting. They are both pieces of the same puzzle - you won't break anything by moving from one setting to another, but they're not expecting that Game Masters take their parties from one setting to the next until the Worldhopper setting comes out. Rule of cool - I'll make it happen for my group.
Mistborn World Guide
The world guide takes on the role of the "True History" of Scadrial, meaning that it will be ripe with spoilers for both Eras. Similar to the Stormlight World Guide, the Mistborn setting will have expanded lore in places that the books didn't cover in depth.
We'll learn more about the culture of the Koloss-blooded and the forming of The Set. There's new art and lore for the Terrace Dominace and other locations throughout both eras of Scadrial.
Updates to Paths and Adversaries
All of the Heroic paths from the Stormlight setting are coming back in the Mistborn setting, but with some different specializations and talents.

For example, the Warrior Talent Tree in the Stormlight setting has specializations for Duelist, Shardbearer, and Solider - some of which wouldn't make sense on Scadrial.
The Mistborn Warrior Talent Tree features Brawler, Gunslinger, and Solider. The Solider Tree and Key Talent for both settings are the same.
Interestingly, this adds "Warrior Stances", something related to Shardblades and sword training in Stormlight on to Scadrial, though they've been localized to that regions particular fighting styles.
What's very interesting about the paths in Mistborn is the Era label. On both Adversaries and Paths, some of the abilities and talent trees are specific to Era 2. This makes sense - Vinn didn't have a gun, and if she hazekiller rounds, the whole book probably would have been a lot shorter.
This does limit the amount of choices you have depending on the Era you play in, but that's up to player and Game Master choice I suppose.
For the Metallic Arts paths they feel like a slightly more deep Singer Forms from the Stormlight setting.
There is a Misting or Mistborn path, allowing you better enhance your use of metals, and then individual small trees for each metal. As a point of comparison, Tin Allomancy has 6 talents while the Adhesion surge has 8 talents. It's uncertain whether all metallic arts across Allomancy and Feruchemcy will have only 6 talents or whether some will have more or less.
Interestingly, in testing, most players chose not to play Mistborn. The alure of being able to go deeper in to the metallic arts was more attractive than being able to do a little bit in every metal.
One thing to note: Brotherwise confirmed that players will not be able to use Hemalurgy as a path. We will learn how to place spikes and even obtain un-keyed metal minds, but these will be limited to items meant as rewards.
Other Mistborn-related announcements
Here's a collection of other notes I took during the panel on the Mistborn RPG:
- Southern Scadrial medallions will be items.
- You can push bullets with Steel - its awesome and dangerous.
- No public beta for Mistborn. Is already in Alpha and Closed beta testing.
- The Aluminum alomancy tree has a character from Roshar on it?
- There will be some details on how Metallic arts interacts and compounds with surges!
- Mistborn minis will be similar to Stormlight, and will be in production along side those made for War of Roshar. They'll be published on https://www.myminifactory.com/.
- There is a Kandra talent for dissolving bodies
Stormlight RPG updates
We didn't get many updates on the Stormlight RPG, but there was a mention of a new war-focused Stormlight adventure coming.

I believe this is the module we played during the Stormlight Epic during Nexus 2025: Heroes of the Lost Desolation. I have a whole video on that coming soon, so stay tunned!
War for Roshar
Stormlight War for Roshar is a grand strategy game coming to Kickstarter in Fall of 2026.

All we've known for certain up until now is Brandon's mysterious line of "this is the complicated one".
We got more details from Brotherwise:
War for Roshar is a 2 - 4 player strategy game that will pin the Collation of Monarchs against the forces of Odium. Each game will take roughly 3+ hours. You'll gather your forces and battle across Roshar, contesting regions and attempting to take Oathgates.
Maybe you end up beating Odium, or maybe you end up losing Urithiru in the first five minutes - the game can play out to any conclusion.
The game will feature new minis as well!
The artwork shown in the slides above is not final, it's just what they're using during playtesting.
War for Roshar was compared to Star Wars Rebellion or War of the Ring.
Out of all the non-RPG games Brotherwise has in the mix right now, this is by the far the one I'm most excited for. Hopefully lots more to come!
Mistborn Deckbuilding Game - Well of Ascension
We got some updates for Well of Ascension. This will be a "shuffle-in" expansion featuring over 100 new cards themed around book two of Mistborn: Well of Ascension. If you're not familiar with the term, it means that the new cards will be added in to the common pool of cards used to build players decks. It won't be a stand alone game, and will mix in with your existing deck.

In additional to the new twin metal cards, we'll be getting 4 new playable characters, including a new version of Vin and Kar the Inquisitor.
There will also be a new solo and co-op mode called the Siege of Luthadel. They did mention the optional variant missions that they had made for the original game, including the extreme difficulty version. I'm uncertain if there will be additional variants for these missions as well.
The expansion will be available in November 2026.
Plotweaver updates
Finally, we got updates on the Plotweaver system. For those who don't know, they Plotweaver system is the game system that runs the Cosmere RPG. As a Chicken / Egg scenario - Plotweaver was made for the Cosmere RPG, but was designed in a way that other games could be developed within in.

We still don't have many updates here, but we got a quick look at the different settings that Brotherwise is creating for the system, spanning everything from Fantasy to Sci-fi.
The big selling point of Plotweaver is that it's open source: if you have a game you've always wanted to create, you can make it using Plotweaver and sell it.
If you didn't already know, fans are not allowed to sell Cosmere RPG-based content. People like me, who create one-shots, maps, and resources for the RPG can't sell them, or put them behind subscription walls. This makes sense: Brandon and Dragonsteel own the Cosmere IP, and you can't just co-op that and turn a profit.
Plotweaver will allow you to create your own game systems and release them as commercial products.
What's really cool, is that most of what gets created for Plotweaver will be be compatible with the Cosmere RPG. The team at Brotherwise specifically said that you'll likely end up seeing some mechanics that will end up in the Cosmere RPG released earlier as Plotweaver mechanics, citing space combat as an example.
Its a lot
Nexus is, well, a hub for lots of updates, and this article ended up being way longer than I expected.
There's lots more to come from Nexus - if you haven't checked out my interviews with Andrew and Johnny from Brotherwise, subscribe to my YouTube channel and go check them out!
